NJ Shore engagement photos are always beautiful, but when we take them at the golden hour (sunset), we think they are even more special. It’s called the “golden hour” because with the sun low in the sky, everything takes on this gorgeous warm yellow-orange color. Skin looks warm, smiles are warm, and everybody just looks great.
We met Aisling and Brian in Spring Lake, NJ at about 6:30. The sky was mostly clear so we knew we would get some great golden hour photos. Of course they are so in love that they would look great anywhere, however they requested Spring Lake and we were happy to make the trip down to the shore to get some great photos.
One type of photo we love to take is a double exposure. We start with a silhouette and then add something from the environment to the photo. Here you see a gorgeous sunset silhouette photo on top that we turned into a double exposure (bottom)
This is the beautiful golden hour light that we like to capture for our clients.
Engagement photos are a combination of fun and romance. It’s important to make sure you get a variety of images. You want some in which you are looking at the camera (most commonly used for “Save the Date” cards and mom’s love these photos) and those in which you are just having fun and sharing time together.
Aisling wanted to incorporate a cute bike she borrowed from her parents into a photo. We chose a location in front of one of the bridges across Spring Lake. The texture of the old bridges creates some nice images, so we took several photos in this location.
At the end of the day, the most important thing is not the location, but the fun you have at it. Taking NJ Shore engagement photos does give us a lot of options for locations to work with.
I’ve said this before, however I’ll say it again. We love to take engagement photos because it’s so stress free and it gives us a chance to work with our couples. Even if we aren’t shooting a couple’s wedding, engagement photos are still a lot of fun.
